Inflatable Packer

Inflatable Packer

Diameter restriction in oil and gas wells is one of the main challenges for the operators performing remedial works such as zonal isolations, tests, treats, and squeeze. They need an equipment to pass through restriction and set in a larger diameter of Open hole or Cased hole.

TMOT has introduced thru-tubing inflatable packer to overcome such challenges via rig less neither operations nor killing the wells refraining the exposure of the pay zone to killing fluids. The tool can be run and set using a standard coiled tubing system. No rotation is required. It can be set using pressure or retrieve by axial movement.

The tool is made from Nitrile based rubbers with steel ribs reinforcements and can be expanded up to 250% of the original size.

Description

Based on Pressure Rating

SD Inflatable Packers (Standard)

  • The most economical version available.
  • Can be used in well conditions where applied differential pressure is less than 500 psi.
  • Tough inflatable element for high elongation and tear resistance.
  • SD packers are available in all standard sizes and can be easily run in straddle configurations.

MD Inflatable Packers (Medium Duty)

  • Used in well conditions where the applied differential pressure is less than 1000 psi.
  • With durable steel reinforced inflation elements.
  • An excellent choice for repeated operation.
  • The packer element can be easily replaced.

HD Inflatable Packers (Heavy Duty)

  • Suitable for well applications requiring high differential pressure up to 5000 psi.
  • Can be used for hydro fracturing.
  • A long, fully steel reinforced, field replaceable inflation element.
  • Can be run and set using various setting mechanism depending on applications and available tools.

Inflatable Models

Continuous:

  • Consist of full rubber element
  • Used in open hole wells
  • Available in permanent & retrievable packer

Discontinuous:

  • Consist of exposed element
  • Used in cased hole wells
  • Available in permanent & retrievable packer

Benefits

  • Small Original OD enables to pass through small diameters.
  • Nowellkillrequired.
  • Expansion Ratio up to 250% of initial OD.
  • Decreasing maximum Deflection Ratio to less than 10%.
  • Temporary or Permanent Models.
  • Retrievable system for temporary solutions.
  • Discontinues or continues models.
  • Discontinues for Cased Hole and continues for Open Hole.
  • Can be run in single & straddle configuration.
  • Can be used in vertical & horizontal wells.
  • Can be easily converted from Bridge Plug to Cement Retainer.
  • Compatible with cement as inflation fluid.
  • Cement inflation provides high-pressure, permanent annular
  • barrier.
  • Easy Running and Retrieving Procedure.
  • One-trip system reduces damage to productive zones and reduces intervention costs.
  • The external fishing neck profile eliminates internal debris problems.
  • Tool redress is straight forward and easy for additional runs.
  • Single- Piece, threaded mandrel secures element while RIH.
  • Standard and hostile-service elastomers, metallurgy, and threads.
  • Shear pins in valve system easily accessible for field dressing.
  • Tool can be deployed for both normal and sour service.
  • Work-over costs reduce upto 90%.

Applications

  • Bridge Plug and Cement Retainer
  • Test&Treatment.
  • Static Downhole Pressure / Temperature Recording.
  • Changing surface facilities.
  • Prevents gas migration.
  • Reduces or prevents water production.
  • To isolate production or injection zones. (Zonal isolation)
  • Squeeze cementing. Isolate lower zones during stage cementing.
  • To isolate the shoe.
  • Shut off open-hole sections.
  • Mechanicalintegritytesting.
  • Well sampling from beneath and between packers.
  • Reline deteriorated casing or seal casing in open hole.
